Charles Wykoff, MD, PhD, is co-director of the Greater Houston Retina Research Foundation with Retina Consultants of Houston. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from MIT, received his PhD from Oxford University in England while on a Marshall Scholarship, and his MD from Harvard Medical School. As a medical student, he co-authored the book Fighting Global Blindness. Dr. Wykoff completed his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the top rated eye hospital in the country; while there he was awarded a Heed Fellowship, the Ronald G. Michels Fellowship Award, the nation’s highest honor for a retina surgery fellow, and served as chief resident/co-director of Ocular Trauma.
 
Dr. Wykoff’s research interests pertain to angiogenesis and retinal vascular diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and venous occlusive diseases as well as vitreoretinal surgery topics such as retinal detachment and macular surgery. Dr. Wykoff has written and published more than 120 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, book chapters, national meeting presentations and abstracts. Dr. Wykoff is an elected member of the Retina Society and the Macula Society, serves as the academic program director for the Vit-Buckle Society Meeting, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

D. Wilkin Parke III, MD, is a vitreoretinal specialist with VitreoRetinal Surgery, PA, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received a degree in history with a pre-medical focus from Princeton University. He attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he graduated with honors. Dr. Parke completed an internship in Internal Medicine through the University of Oklahoma. He completed his residency and surgical retina fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. During his last year of fellowship, he was chief resident at Bascom Palmer as well as director of the Ocular Trauma Service. Dr. Parke joined VitreoRetinal Surgery, PA in 2013.

Sonia H. Yoo, MD, is currently professor of ophthalmology with a joint appointment in biomedical engineering and associate medical director at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Yoo received her BA at Stanford University in California and her MD at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. She completed residency and fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School in 1998.
 
Dr. Yoo's areas of clinical practice are cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. Her areas of research interest are in laser applications in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery, and restoring accommodation. She holds several patents and has authored more than 150 book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles as well as serving as the principal investigator in numerous drug and device trials.
 
Dr. Yoo has a history of service to her field. This year, Dr. Yoo served as the program chair of the Refractive Surgery subspecialty day program of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and received the International Society of Refractive Surgery's prestigious Founder's Award for her accomplishments in cataract and refractive surgery. She serves on the AAO's Practicing Ophthalmologists Curriculum Refractive Management/Intervention Panel for refractive surgery, is a board member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and is on the board of directors for the Cornea Society. She is a reviewer for numerous ophthalmology journals and serves on the editorial board of the Cornea Society, the Journal of Refractive Surgery, and the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Yoo served as the cornea fellowship director at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute from 2000–2013 and has trained numerous residents, clinical fellows, and international research fellows during her career.
 
Performing eye surgery for the past 20 years, Dr. Yoo continually strives to improve patient outcomes. She is currently working on the use of optical coherence tomography imaging to aid visualization during surgery. She is also using this technology to develop a novel imaging device for the early detection of keratoconus.

2. Institute the most effective preventive methods to reduce the risk of endophthalmitis
3. Implement evidence-based diagnostic and management approaches for endophthalmitis
