This activity is the first in a 3-part series covering the simplification and demystification of HCV management.
Method of Participation
There are no fees to participate in the activity. Participants must review the activity information including the learning objectives and disclosure statements, as well as the content of the activity. The activity has two components:
- a 1-hour online self-study completed at learners' convenience, and
- a 45-minute live Office Hours Webinar with faculty on November 8th, 2016 at 1:30 PM Eastern, which will be archived for learners who can’t attend the live session.
Learners must complete both components and complete the post-test (achieving a passing grade of 70% or greater) and program evaluation in order to claim CME/CNE credit. Your certificate can be printed immediately.

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of gastroenterology and infectious disease physicians, advanced practice clinicians, nurses, and physician assistants. Primary care providers and other clinicians may also participate.
After participating in the activity, learners should be better able to
- List the essential steps required to appropriately screen for, diagnose, and characterize chronic HCV infection as well as extrahepatic complications
- Explain how to stage liver disease in patients with chronic HCV and identify patients who need immediate referral to a hepatologist
- Describe the relevance of patient readiness to HCV treatment outcomes, and list factors that affect readiness for treatment
